We Are Back

Well it has been a long time since our last posting. I have been most neglect in keeping everyone up to speed on our munchkin. So much has happened, yet it seems it was just yesterday we brought her home. We celebrated "Gotcha Day" at Build a Bear with her good buddies and our close friends. Amazingly, they (Build a Bear) are quite aware of Gotcha Day, the significance of the event, and importance of caring for families with blessed little ones. I pray this is not unique to our store as it really was pretty cool. We celebrated "Adoption Recognition" with our Sunday School class and family. We have been most blessed to have a group of parents that have either adopted, been adopted themselves or are in the process of adoption. This was a glorious day, fun games, food and a toast to our children for making us whole. Afterwards, Deena was told she has moved from being Nene (her nickname) to Gracie's Mom by the other little "girls" in the group. If you could only imagine how that makes your heart swell, and touches your soul, in that the identity we strive so hard to achieve sometimes is seen so clearly by those little people. We celebrated the graduation/birthday & engagement of our nephew and took our first swim of the year in "Uncle Daves" pool (just how white can Dad be??). As the celebrations continue, we spent Memorial Day at Mom & Dad's, eating Dad's BBQ chicken, jumping in the bounce house, playing dodge the bomb bags (thanks Mom) and shooting each other with silly string (thanks Mom again). I am not sure who has a bigger time with this. Lets don't forget the "pinata's" as we had 4 this year. Gracie is beginning to put sentences together, use them in the right context, and at the right time. We naturally think think she is the smartest child in the world (she gets it from her mom). She loves music and loves again to spend time in her big bubbas room listening to something he refers to as just that. I will certainly debate that issue but do not want to break the moment of bonding that does not come often between a 22 month old (today), and an 18 year old. Deena and Gracie have a worship cd they are fond of listening to. It has Hill Songs "Mighty to Save" on it. As soon as the intro begins Gracie will raise her arms in the air, praising God, and it is hard sometimes not to pull over and cry because of the beauty and innocense of the child, and the moment. Well it is getting late and I am rambling a bit. Promise to post more and more often but for now, later.
Rick
p.s.- if you get a chance listen to the words of the Hill Songs "Mighty to Save", because He Is..
